Sunday 24th January: U15 v Marlborough Town

Finally beating the weather, this was a cracking game that could have gone either way for three quarters of the match. It was disappointing to twice concede the lead at the start of each half, but good to see how the team worked hard for the remainder of the match.

We almost took the lead early on and paid the price when Marlborough went straight to the other end and scored. Jack then scored our first goal of the decade and, after a few chances had gone begging, Jonny picked his spot well to slot home and give us the lead for the first time. Although we were on top, we were still being beaten to the ball too often and there were too many loose passes.

Disaster struck at the start of the second half as Marlborough immediately responded with two quick goals, but those were just about the last shots that they had on goal, as Wanborough started to dominate the game. Jack equalised again, before Matt R scored. Chances were again missed before Jack capped a fine performance with his hat trick and Dom wrapped up the points with a cool finish.

Overall an excellent team performance that showed great character and determination against a team that had only lost once previously this season (also against Wanborough)!

Captain's Award: Jack, for his dominance in attack.
Coaches' Award: Frank, for his best game yet - defending well and causing real problems down the wing.

Squad: Luke, Oli, Will, Toby, Matt C, Jonny L, Frank, Dom, Jack, Matt R, Ryan, Dan, Tom and Chris
